Spreading the Magic

I am so excited to share a few more Disney crafts with you!  I have been Disney crazy all my life, but the last few weeks I have been going a little overboard.  I have been making crafts for baby J and the whole family.  J is a growing boy and loves his snacks (aka every flavor of Puffs ever created), so I made a snack tin for our trip our of an old almond tin, some paper, and a whole lot of mod podge.  It says "Meeshka Moushka Mickey Mouse Mix."  Here is the finished product:



I will be posting some other mod podge projects soon.  I entered late into the mod podging world, but now I'm here to stay!

The next project I moved on to was for my mom's birthday.  I found this cute idea on pinterest, and I tweeked it, like I usually do for sewing projects.  I thought my mom needed something Disney inspired.  And although she doesn't drink coffee, she does like hot cocoa, tea, and apple cider, so I thought she might appreciate a Mickey coffee sleeve on a cute new travel mug.  This was so simple, just two pieces of fleece and 2 white buttons.  I sewed them especially to fit this travel mug, and I left a small piece un-sewn so she could carry tea bags with her.  This would also be a great spot for a gift card!

Silent Night, Holy Night

With a big smile on my face, I can say that Cuddle Bug is working on sleeping more through the night. Every once in awhile, he gives us that joyous Silent Night with about a 4-5 hour stretch. Last night was 5.5 hours of pure bliss as we all slept soundly. We hope that Bug's Christmas present to us would be a full night's sleep and his first smile. We can hope! Christmas has arrived and we are trying to make baby's first Christmas so special. Bug got to meet Santa 3 times already, and even got an official certificate saying he's on the nice list. His swing is right by the Christmas tree and he seems to enjoy looking at the twinkling lights as he swings. Cuddle Bug also got to participate in lots of fun activities for Big Brothers 2nd birthday, like zoolights and even a visit to a fire station. Our CuddleBug

Our little cuddle bug has officially become a part of our family.  Big brother has quickly grown to love his little brother and often looks out for him, saying "It's okay" when he cries and even wiping his nose with a tissue. Of course, Big Brother is also an older brother, so he knows the right buttons to push too, mainly touching Little Brother's nose when he's sleeping until he wakes up.  Big Brother has been acting out in other ways, seeking attention in all the wrong ways, but that may have something to do with him turning 2 years old next week.  My little man is figuring out that he has an opinion and he's falling right into his two-year-old BIG attitude. I've started calling Baby Brother my cuddle bug for a good reason; he's just so cuddly!  This tiny baby has grown before our eyes in the 3 weeks that we have had him in our home. He's gained 2 pounds, which is just a huge amount for a newborn. And he just wants to be held all day long. Bug

Two Mommies

One very unique characteristic of kiddos in foster care is that they have two mommies and two daddies.  As I have mentioned, whenever  a child comes into care, the case plan always starts as reunification and most of the time that means court-ordered supervised visits on a regular basis. These kiddos are transitioning from one home to another and sometimes have a chance to go back to their birth mommy or daddy.   Visits can be very helpful to keep that bond. Sometimes we, as foster parents, don't remember the positive reasons for visits. This is why it was really hard when Cuddle Bug's caseworker called me today and told me a stranger would be picking him up today for his supervised visit. It was difficult, but it's not my responsibility to make a fuss about it or make it more challenging. It's our job as foster parents to help this baby through this.
