Welcome Home to Our New Bundle of Joy

We have had a very exciting and wonderful past 72 hours!  We welcomed a new member to our family this week.  In a matter of 3 hours, our lives changed completely.  To be honest, this is not the process we were expecting in the least.  However, we have prayed a lot about the process and we have decided to be flexible and trust that it will work out.  So, we dove in with both feet.  Please keep in mind the rules around confidentiality.  I will share, but much of the information is on a "need to know" basis. There may be many times in my children's life that I tell people that I cannot divulge certain information.  But there are also things I just simply would prefer not to share because it is information that should be up to my children to decide if they want to share later in life.  It is their story, after all!  With that said, here is our little story.

Scene: A mom with disheveled hair trying to wrangle a toddler to nap-time, her mind racing with thoughts of all of the things she could check off the to do list for the rest of the day.  That's how it began!  That's when my phone rang.  Our licensing worker had received an e-mail for an emergency placement, a newborn baby boy needed a home ASAP.  She called us because there was a strong possibility of this child needing a forever home.  We had about 5 minutes to decide.  This was so unexpected, but my heart immediately melted.  It felt like exactly where we needed to be.  I knew right away that we are meant to parent this baby, for however long we can.  About 3 hours later, the CPS caseworker dropped him off.  He came with no medical information, no history, no extra clothes, and two versions of his name.  We are head over heels!  The last few days have been a complete head-spinning whirlwind.  We have really just been trying to catch our breath and figure out what we are doing.  We are learning about being foster parents, formula feeding, sibling jealousy, and how to use our resources.  During this time, we so appreciate everyone's support.  We are so grateful to those who have prayed for us, those who have offered kind words of love and support, those who have brought dinner or gifts for our boys, and especially those of you who have brought coffee.  :)  We should find out more information in the next few weeks, at least about where the case plan is headed.  But officially, it is up to the judge to decide.  So for now, we are enjoying every moment with our precious new son.
