Practically "Paper Pregnant"

We have some good news!  We are practically "paper pregnant"!  Maybe there's no growing belly or morning sickness, but we are EXPECTING!  We are expecting one or two children to love, we are expecting years of happiness, we are expecting laughter and tears, and we are expecting to complete our family in the most amazing way.  And now starts the waiting game.

Details, you ask?  Well, we met with our licensing worker last Tuesday.  We passed our second inspection with flying colors, which means that we now go to quarterly inspections until we are no longer licensed for foster care.  We had our couple's interview and finished talking about some of the details.  We talked about the children that we feel we would be able to parent, along with their special needs.  We feel like we can be good parents to children with developmental delays, some medical issues, or emotional issues.  We do have some limits, but these children all deserve a loving home and family.

Our adoption application was mailed today!  It is on its way to the courts in AZ who will review our application and decide whether or not to certify us for adoption.  Hopefully we will hear back in a few weeks.  Our foster care application will be done this week after our final training and it will be submitted online.  It will probably take about a month to hear back about our foster care licensure.  We will officially be foster parents to our adopted children for at least 6 months before we can legally adopt them.  But, this is actually a blessing.  There are so many resources available to foster children.  So we can make sure the children are established in any services they may need before the adoption.  Then we will of course continue if they need further services (like speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc.).

While we are waiting, we are preparing ourselves and Little J for new family members!  We are practicing with a baby doll and talking a lot about "sister or brother" even though they may not be babies.  We bought a couple of children's books that will hopefully help a little.  J is still too young to go into too much deep conversation.  But, if I were pregnant, we would talk about the baby growing in my belly.  I think it's only fair to start talking about it however we can.  If anyone has any other suggestions or helpful resources for this, please let us know!
