Inspect This!

This process is so much different than when we were expecting Baby J.  No morning sickness, but those paper cuts sure do sting!  :)

The current paper cuts come from a stack of papers we had to review and fill out for our home inspection.  Our state home inspection was yesterday, and we passed with flying colors.  We have been preparing for this inspection for weeks.  Every room must have a smoke detector, all medicines must be locked up, as well as all potentially hazardous materials, including all cleaning supplies (even windex and laundry detergent).  Our hot water has to be turned down and we must have a shephard's hook and a life ring for the pool, which of course must have a 5' fence.  There were many more requirements in our packet.  The state has officially approved our home for foster care.  We will have another inspection with our agency worker in two weeks. At that time, we will also have our final interview, where are licensing worker can ask any follow-up questions she may have to finish our homestudy.

I spoke with our licensing worker yesterday.  She assured me that most of our homestudy is completed, and she is just waiting to fill in the information from our inspections and our final interview.

At home, I will be working on our scrapbook this week.  This is the book that our licensing worker will use to present our family to CPS.  It should represent our family and what our lives look like.  It will include pictures of our house, the kids' room, our pets, and of course... us!  I am hoping to highlight all of the fun activities we do all the time.  Kevin's next project is painting the kids' room!  We are going with a very light, magical sky blue.  Then we will add Peter Pan decorations!  If we end up adopting girls, it will be very easy to add lots of purple and Tinkerbelle will take over. ;)  And if we get boys, Peter and the lost boys will make the room have a forest/camp feel.  This theme should work even if we adopt a boy and a girl.  So keep your eye out for any decorations we may be able to use!
